For Parents
You may be feeling:
* Shock
* Disappointment
* Embarrassment
* Concern for her future
*** It is important for you to be able to
process this yourself in an effective manner.
Remember to take time to find someone to talk to
about your feelings, so you are better equipped
to deal with the situation. Things said in the
heat of the moment, may be regretted later on,
so err on the side of caution and focus your
dialogue on the immediate challenges.*** What
can you do to help her?
* LISTEN
- listen to her concerns & fears.
* ENCOURAGE
- encourage her to come in to the Pregnancy
Resource Centre and speak with someone who can
help her make a plan.
* BE SUPPORTIVE
- remind her that you still love her and will be
there for her.
* REMIND HER
-that the world is not over, its just taken an
unexpected detour and you can be a part of
helping her back on course.
* REMEMBER
- remember that it is HER decision to make and
that she will be the one that needs to live with
her decision.
